The shots in this nomination reflect the unity of the animal and its habitat, in the artistic and biological aspect. The frame is evaluated as an integral composition created by nature and captured by the photographer.
Microworld
Shooting representatives of the microworld (insects, spiders, invertebrates, small underwater animals) in natural habitats. The image of objects at any moment of life, interaction with other individuals, species and the environment is welcome. In this nomination, the priority is the harmony and artistry of the entire composition.
Landscape
The nomination includes landscape photographs showing the beauty and harmony of wildlife. The photographs should not show the presence of anthropogenic interference. Works will be judged on the degree of artistry and compositional completeness. The geographical location of the shooting point and the type of landscape does not matter.
Undersea world
This category accepts images taken underwater. In the competition work, the originality of the composition, the difficulty of obtaining a frame, and the dramaturgy should be visible. Photographs showing the uniqueness and vastness of underwater ecosystems are welcome.
Human and nature
Reporting nomination. This nomination includes photographs of any interaction between wildlife and humans, such as: work in nature reserves; animals and people in zoos; people in the process of wildlife conservation; negative human impact on the environment.
animal behavior
Shooting wild animals (animals, birds, amphibians, etc.) in natural freedom. In this nomination, the priority is the uniqueness of the frame. The photo should show an interesting moment in the life of the animal. Dynamic, emotional, memorable and original shots are welcome.
New technologies in wildlife photography
This nomination includes photographs taken using modern remote methods for obtaining frames: camera traps, drones and other technical devices.
Art and the image of nature
The main value in this nomination is the lighting, structural and graphic solution of the entire composition as a whole. Frames depicting animals, as well as objects in the world of plants and mushrooms, are welcome.
Nature through the eyes of youth
This nomination accepts any wildlife photography from young photographers between the ages of 13 and 17.
Nature through the eyes of children
This nomination accepts any wildlife photography from young photographers under the age of 12.

The largest wildlife festival "GOLDEN TURTLE" will be held for the 12th time on November 4-18, 2018 in Moscow at the Central House of Artists and from November 30 to January 13, 2019 in St. Petersburg in the "Etazhi" space.

GOLDEN TURTLE is an international interactive wildlife festival that brings together the best creative works of world-class photographers, artists and designers about the beauty and harmony of the surrounding world.

The key event of the festival will be a large interactive exposition of the works of the finalists and laureates of The Golden Turtle 2018 international photo contest. This year, the contest brought together a record number of participants: more than 1,800 authors from 110 countries sent their works. For 12 years, more than 11,000 authors from 120 countries of the world have taken part in it, sending more than 100,000 works to the competition. The Golden Turtle photo contest is one of the three most prestigious in the world.

"GOLDEN TURTLE" is not only a unique cultural event, but also has a serious social component, is a landmark environmental event. The festival is an official event held as part of the decade of biodiversity conservation declared by the United Nations. As part of the 2018 festival, Eco lecture hall, premiere film screenings of documentaries about wildlife and ecology, famous photographers, travelers, festival ambassadors will perform.

This year, a famous photographer from the Netherlands, a member of the jury of the competition, will become a special guest of the festival program Jan Vermeer. At the festival, he will present an exhibition of his work.
